How long does the Large Families discount last?

Parents with 3 children* under 25 who are eligible for child benefit can apply for this card for themselves and their children under 25:

  • Parents who have (or have had) at least 3 children have lifetime access to the discount (code 040). The main card must be renewed every 10 years. Validation tickets are issued for a period of 5 years.
  • Their children under 12 will receive a discount card that is valid until the end of the year of their 12th birthday (code 039).
  • Their children aged between 12 and 18 will receive a discount card that is valid until the end of the year of their 18th birthday (code 042).
  • Their children aged between 18 and 25 will receive a discount card as long as they remain eligible for child benefit. This card must be renewed every year (code 041).

Cohabiting partners with 3 children* under 25 who are eligible for child benefit can apply for this card for themselves and their children:

  • The parents qualify for the discount card (code 041) as long as one child in the family is eligible for child benefit. The card must be renewed every year.
  • Their children will receive a discount card that has to be renewed every year (code 041) as long as they are eligible for child benefit.

* ‘Children’ includes children through marriage, legal cohabitation or legal adoption, or whose relationship to the parent(s) is acknowledged officially or by a court ruling.
