Don't have a MOBIB card yet?

MOBIB: chip cards for railcard holders

NMBS/SNCB paper railcards are being phased out in favour of electronic railcards stored on a MOBIB card.

Already have a MOBIB card?

Important: Part-Time and Campus Railcards and complex railcards (with a ‘via’ or ‘antenna’) are not affected.

What is the MOBIB card?

The MOBIB card is an interoperable smart chip card issued by the NMBS/SNCB and also used by the MIVB/STIB. It can contain multiple railcards (contracts of carriage) simultaneously, but is not a railcard itself.

Small card, big benefits

  • Practical
  • Easy to use and top up
  • Blocked immediately if lost or stolen
  • No more re-issuing fees if you make changes to your journey
  • All your railcards loaded on one single card
  • Passes for paid car parks managed by the NMBS/SNCB (B-Parking) can also be loaded onto your MOBIB card
  • You can also use it for your Cambio or Villo railcard.

Which railcards are affected by the switch to MOBIB?

For future railcard holders

If you would like to obtain an NMBS/SNCB railcard, with the option to combine it with TEC, De Lijn or MIVB/STIB add-ons, simply visit the ticket office of your local station. You will need to bring the following:

  • Your electronic identity card
  • €5 for the administrative fees linked to the issuing of your NMBS/SNCB MOBIB card (except if your employer pays for it)

For all holders of NMBS/SNCB railcards still in paper format whether combined or not.

Bring the following to the ticket office of your choice a few days before your current railcard expires:

  • Your railcard
  • Your electronic identity card
  • €5 for the administrative fees linked to the issuing of your NMBS/SNCB MOBIB card (except if your employer pays for it)

What about combined NMBS/SNCB railcards?
