Travelling 1st or 2nd class?

grandmother with childWhether you’re alone, with your family or in a group, 2nd class offers you a convenient way to travel. If you like to read or work during your journey, opting for 1st class will ensure you a more comfortable and often quieter environment.
  • On the outside of the train, you can identify 1st class by its yellow band and the number 1
  • Inside, the 1 or 2 on the doors will tell you which class it is
  • More comfort: Going from 2nd to 1st class is possible with a class upgrade. Ideally, you have bought this class upgrade before boarding the train, at the ticket counter, from the ticket dispenser or online. As of 1 February 2015 you will have to pay the on board price (which means a supplement of € 7) if you buy your class upgrade on the train.

Refer to the terms and conditions of your ticket to check whether you can upgrade.
