General conditions for remote sales of domestic travel tickets

3. Legal capacity

By purchasing domestic travel tickets via this website, the customer declares that he/she is at least 18 years old or is legally authorised to buy online services through this website. The customer agrees to assume liability for all financial transactions related to the use of this platform, including transactions which, for example, have been made on his behalf or in his name by minors sharing his domicile.

4. Applicable conditions

By purchasing a travel ticket via this platform, the customer accepts these general terms and conditions.

The transport contract formalised by this travel ticket is governed by SNCB Transport Conditions.

For the purchase of an SMS ticket, the Special conditions of sale and use of SMS tickets also apply.

5. Price

The prices displayed include VAT and are in accordance with the provisions of the SNCB Transport Conditions.

6. Order not accepted

The SNCB reserves the right, without being required to inform the customer in advance, to deny or suspend an order, or submit an order to further conditions when the information provided in such order is incomplete or incorrect, or when the SNCB suspects a breach of a contractual condition or any form of fraud or deceit, e.g. when the identity of the customer or traveller is suspect or perhaps incorrect, for orders of an unusual number of SNCB products or in the event of (previous) payment problems with the customer or traveller.

a.    When purchasing a ticket in PDF format, this ticket is sent to the customer via the browser and his mailbox.

b.    For electronic identity card tickets, confirmation is sent to the customer's email address along with an order summary. No ticket will be sent.

c.    Rail card validations are sent free of charge by post and customers also receive email confirmation.

d.    SMS tickets are delivered to the main traveller by SMS message. After purchasing an SMS ticket, confirmation of purchase is also sent to the buyer's email address. This confirmation of purchase is not a travel ticket.

8. Transfer, refund

Tickets purchased remotely – except SMS tickets – are named tickets and therefore not transferable. They are not refundable or exchangeable. Rail Card validations are refundable in accordance with the provisions of the Transport Conditions.

SMS tickets may be transferred provided that at the time of travel, the transferees meet the conditions of use for the products in question. SMS tickets are not refundable.

9. Customer obligations in the event of problems

If the customer has not received the confirmation email within an hour of placing an order, or if the travel ticket received has an anomaly, the customer is obliged to notify the SNCB Helpdesk (week days: 8 am to 6 pm, weekends and holidays: 9 am to 4 pm) by calling 02/528.28.51 or completing the online Ticket contact form, and providing evidence of the anomaly found.

The SNCB liability is, in all cases, limited to the issuance of a new travel ticket under the same conditions. The SNCB accepts no responsibility for improper functioning of telecommunications means and/or for errors in the programme for sending and receiving electronic messages used by the customer.

10. Right of renunciation

Pursuant to Article VI.53 of the Belgian Code of Economic Law, customers have no right to cancel the purchase.

Any dispute arising from the purchase of travel tickets through this platform will be - provided the dispute is admissible by law - governed by Belgian law. Belgian courts have sole competence in the area.
